It may be hard to believe, but 100 years ago, University Hospital opened its doors to patients with 130 beds. That was Sept. 3, 1917. <\/p>\n

For every year that followed, University Hospital provided access to health care for Omahans who may otherwise go without. As you can imagine, many changes occurred in the last century, including the addition of three more hospital wings. In 1977, the now-called Medical Sciences Building was built, followed by the creation of the Durham Outpatient Center in 1993.*<\/p>\n

Nebraska Medicine and UNMC leaders wish to commemorate this historic birthday of the hospital, now known as University Tower. All colleagues are welcome to attend the event on Oct. 12 in the west atrium of the Durham Outpatient Center from 3 to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

Brief remarks from UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., Nebraska Medicine CEO Dan DeBehnke, M.D., MBA, and UNMC campus historian Robert Wigton, M.D., will begin at 3:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n
