A serious car accident near the Nebraska Medicine-Eagle Run Clinic near 129th and W. Maple Road sent clinic staff there running to the rescue late Tuesday morning. <\/p>\n

A Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed into the nearby Crane Coffee shop, injuring five people.<\/p>\n

Medical receptionist Megan Rentschler at the front desk initially thought the Crane Coffee building had exploded. She rushed to the back of the clinic to ask others to help. The team rushed outside and found the injured people in the crumbled building.<\/p>\n

“Your first instinct is to ask ‘Who is injured?’ We’re in health care. We want to help people, we focused on that,” said nurse practitioner Emily Hill.<\/p>\n

Hill said someone already had called 911 and paramedics were quick to arrive. Along with Hill, Stephen Tibbels, M.D.; Jason Patera, M.D.; Shirley Hartle, Leslie Pivovar, Mandy Strain, Renea Sorgenfrei and Stacy Randels ran to the scene to help. The rest of the Eagle Run team stayed in the clinic with patients who were already there.<\/p>\n

“This is a great place to work,” Hill said. “To have something tragic like this happen, and to know these people are behind you and that they’d drop everything and rush out there without concern for their own safety.”<\/p>\n

The Eagle Run Clinic was closed for the remainder of the day, due to the ongoing investigation into the crash.<\/p>\n
