The budget package advanced by the Appropriations Committee reduces the university&#8217;s 2018-19 cut from the $23 million originally proposed to about $6 million.<\/p>\n<p>President Hank Bounds has applauded Chairman John Stinner and the committee for making higher education and the university&#8217;s 53,000 students a priority.<\/p>\n<p>The message follows Tuesday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/03\/05\/i-love-nu-advocacy-day-to-be-held-at-state-capitol-2\/\">I Love NU Advocacy Day<\/a> at the Nebraska State Capitol Building, when students,
