The campus is invited to a retirement tea for Rob Baum, who has worked at UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine for 25 years. The tea will be held Monday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Private Dining Room C on the third floor of University Tower.<\/p>\n

Baum started his career at the medical center as a respiratory therapist from 1990-1996. He then decided to make a career change and took the next two years to get his physician assistant degree from UNMC.<\/p>\n

In 1999, Baum became a physician assistant for UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine in the department of internal medicine, division of diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism (DEM). <\/p>\n

“He has since become one of the Diabetes Center’s most popular providers, lending a compassionate ear for patient concerns and spending time to help patients figure out how to live a healthier lifestyle,” said Lynn Mack, M.D., associate professor, internal medicine. “He has been a role model for good health, walking or riding his bicycle to work every day and working with the dieticians on healthy meal plans for himself and patients. <\/p>\n

“He will be greatly missed by everyone, but especially by me, as Rob provided follow-up care for my general endocrine patients, and he has assisted me in the joint High Risk OB-Endocrinology Clinic since 2005.”<\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be served. Jennifer Larsen, M.D., vice chancellor for research, and Cyrus Desouza, M.B.B.S., professor, internal medicine, and division chief of DEM, will deliver brief remarks around 11:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
