The UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine IT Department has published a service catalog that provides an organized and curated collection of all IT-related services available to both UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. <\/p>\n

“The vision of the UNMC & Nebraska Medicine Information Technology (IT) is for technology to be an enterprise strategic asset, thus enabling UNMC and Nebraska Medicine to fulfill the shared mission to lead the world in transforming lives to create a healthy future for all individuals and communities through premier educational programs, innovative research and extraordinary patient care,” said Marc Ferguson, executive director of information technology operations for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.<\/p>\n

The objective of the service catalog is to provide easily accessible information on services provided and key contacts within IT. <\/p>\n

Services are grouped by portfolio, which is an area of related services. For each service, there is a clear definition, scope, intended audience, cost, cost savings tips, the IT service owner as well as a quick means to submit a request for the service. <\/p>\n

This single set of portfolios and IT services has been integrated with other information already present on the IT intranet and is now available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Under the “IT Portfolios” header, colleagues can browse the IT portfolios and the services contained within them. The portfolios represent a logical grouping of services, such as “Communication and Collaboration” or “Clinical Information Systems.” <\/p>\n

“While the services pages also contain a collection of links for requesting things, be it new functionality related to a service, or a piece of equipment, the main focus of these pages is to provide information about the services being provided,” Ferguson said.<\/p>\n

“In the coming months, IT will work to further improve the service catalog, incorporating feedback from customers and users, and adding additional functionality,” he said. “We also will be working to consolidate the existing information and revamp how you can find helpful information about how to best use IT’s services and submit requests to us — the proverbial one-stop shop for everything related to IT. For that, we are very interested in hearing from you.”<\/p>\n

Ferguson noted that the new catalog does not replace IT Helps, which is the portal to request immediate assistance for a problem or service. <\/p>\n
