Fremming, Thompson, lecture in Abu Dhabi"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Brad Fremming, M.D., Pharm.D., and Shaun Thompson, M.D., recently returned from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where they were invited to present on several topics at the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SSCM) 2018 Multidisciplinary Critical Care Review Course (MCCRC).<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe MCCRC provides attendees with the most comprehensive review and update of the diagnosis, monitoring and management of critically ill patients.&nbsp; The intensive course included interactive sessions using audience response technology and practice questions, answers and rationales. Dr. Fremming and Dr. Thompson joined world-class faculty in providing the most up-to-date information in critical care across all healthcare professions.&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe lectures, organized by Ahmed Taha, M.D., were given September 6-9. Dr. Thompson led two lectures on ventilator-associated pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Dr. Fremming presented UNMC Department of Anesthesiology research pertaining to a 2017 expedition to Mount Everest in the Himalayas.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe presentations attracted record attendance for Grand Rounds in the department&rsquo;s history, according to Dr. Taha. &nbsp;More than 130 clinicians from multiple medical centers in Abu Dhabi and surrounding areas attended.&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&quot;The attendees were very welcoming and happy to have us,&quot; Dr. Thompson said. &quot;They were happy to have Americans presenting because they see us at the forefront of medicine in the world. I was humbled to be able to teach some of these people who have been practicing medicine as long as I&rsquo;ve been alive.&quot;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe partnership between the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Dr. Taha of Abu Dhabi was fostered through Andrew Patterson, M.D., Ph.D., and the SCCM.
