\n<\/TABLE>After more than 30 years of university service and 21 years in the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology, Office Associate Melinda Murdock will retire Dec. 31.<\/p>\n

A retirement tea is scheduled in her honor for Dec. 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Private Dining Room C.<\/p>\n

Murdock, who joined the department July 1, 1997, looks forward to spending her retired days tending to her pasture and two horses, Joe and Rita. She has been passionate about horses since she was a child. Murdock, who has several published novels and an art degree, also plans to get back into writing and painting. <\/p>\n

“I’d rather shovel out horse stalls and dig in the garden than sit in front of a computer, but I will greatly miss my colleagues and the students and their bright, inquiring minds,” Murdock said. “It’s been a wonderful pleasure to help push these kids in the direction they want to go, and make opportunities available to them.”<\/p>\n

“Melinda’s dedication to our departmental personnel and special dedication to our educational missions has been invaluable for the past 21 years,” said Bryan Schwahn, vice chairman of administration and finance in the department of anesthesiology. “Her supportive, positive attitude will be missed.”<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
