{"id":63553,"date":"2018-11-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-11-29T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/11\/29\/retirement-reception-for-jan-twiss-monday\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T15:57:29","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T20:57:29","slug":"retirement-reception-for-jan-twiss-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/11\/29\/retirement-reception-for-jan-twiss-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Retirement reception for Jan Twiss Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>UNMC College of Nursing colleagues are hosting a retirement reception for associate professor Jan Twiss, Ph.D., from 3:30-5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3.<\/p>\n<p>The event will be held in the third floor atrium of the Center for Nursing Science at the Omaha campus.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Twiss, who will retire at the end of 2018, has been at UNMC 42 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have had the opportunity to work with outstanding colleagues during my 42-year tenure,&#8221; Dr. Twiss said. &#8220;I especially have had the privilege to excel in the area of maternal-child nursing. I was able to live my dream as a woman&#8217;s health nurse practitioner and coordinator of the woman&#8217;s health track. It is a great feeling to know that I have influenced a large number of women and men to obtain their goal as a nurse. It is with a great deal of bittersweet sadness that I am retiring.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have been very fortunate to have an individual of Dr. Jan Twiss&#8217;s expertise and experience in the College of Nursing at UNMC,&#8221; said Amy Hoffman, Ph.D. &#8220;She truly exemplifies how a faculty member can be an academic leader, mentor, educator, researcher and a great partner to the community. She is an outstanding leader through her program of research federally funded by the National Institutes of Health to advance the well-being and health of women, with abundant dissemination of scholarly works. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Likewise, Dr. Twiss has led the way in the Women&#8217;s Health Advanced Practice Graduate Program in the College of Nursing. She has been relentless in sharing of her time with faculty and students and as well served in numerous prestigious nursing organizations and academic, governmental and private industries well revered for her lifelong contributions to making a difference for students, faculty, and the public at large. We thank her greatly for all her contributions done with excellence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>College of Nursing stalwart was at UNMC for longer than
