{"id":63661,"date":"2018-12-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-10T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/12\/10\/science-on-screen-examines-home-alone-tuesday\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T15:58:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T20:58:07","slug":"science-on-screen-examines-home-alone-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2018\/12\/10\/science-on-screen-examines-home-alone-tuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Science on Screen examines &#8216;Home Alone&#8217; Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>For a special holiday edition of Science on Screen, UNMC teams with Film Streams to raise a provocative question about the classic holiday film &#8220;Home Alone&#8221; &#8212; Is Kevin McCallister a psychopath?<\/p>\n<p>The screening of the film will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11,  in the Ruth Sokolof Theater at Film Streams, 1340 Mike Fahey St.<\/p>\n<p>Upon its release in 1990, the John Hughes-penned blockbuster was anointed into the canon of Christmas films. But with the distance of a few decades, &#8220;Home Alone&#8221; seems like a somewhat unlikely film to rally the family &#8217;round. <\/p>\n<p>When his neglectful family leaves him behind for Christmas vacation, the film&#8217;s hero, 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, experiences elation and discovers the solitude for which he&#8217;s always yearned.
