As integral parts of the region’s health care community, Nebraska Medicine and UNMC will continue to collaborate with Children’s Hospital & Medical Center as it manages changes in its medical staff. Many of Children’s physicians are UNMC faculty and many also have privileges at Nebraska Medical Center. For these reasons, UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are uniquely connected to Children’s and its physicians. <\/p>\n

“The reasons behind these resignations and the situation surrounding them are very complex,” said Bradley Britigan, M.D., dean of the UNMC College of Medicine. “There are multiple viewpoints to consider and we are remaining focused on providing high-quality care for patients and supporting the academic mission we share with Children’s.” <\/p>\n

“The most important thing for all of us to remember is our commitment to the safety of our patients and to the values that each of us follows as part of the Nebraska Medicine\/UNMC family,” said Jim Linder, M.D., CEO of Nebraska Medicine. “When appropriate, we have been and plan to continue to accommodate cases at Nebraska Medical Center.” <\/p>\n

Drs. Britigan and Linder say any interim or permanent changes to Nebraska Medicine’s and UNMC’s pediatric programs and facilities would only be made after careful research and planning and in conjunction with Children’s. UNMC does not expect its student, resident and fellowship training programs to be affected. They also say they will continue monitoring the potential impact of these changes closely, with the access, quality, and safety of health care in the communities that we serve as our highest priorities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
