Wendy Grant, M.D., professor of surgery in the division of transplantation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a member of the organ transplant team at Nebraska Medicine, will discuss what it means to be a living organ donor at the next Omaha Science Café at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19 at the Slowdown, 729 N. 14th St.
\n 
\nDr. Grant is director of the living donor liver transplant program and medical director of pediatric transplantation at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.
\n 
\nShe has a specialty interest in surgical education as well as outcomes following intestinal and liver transplantation.
\n 
\nDr. Grant graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center, Salt Lake City; and did a fellowship in solid organ transplantation at UNMC.
\n 
\nThis café is in partnership with the Blue Barn Theatre<\/a> and its current production of "I and You" which runs through Feb. 24.
\n 
\nScience Cafés involve a face-to-face conversation with a scientist about current science topics. They are open to everyone (21 and older) and take place in casual settings like pubs and coffeehouses. Each meeting is organized around an interesting topic of conversation. A scientist gives a brief presentation followed by a Q-and-A period.
\n
