{"id":64228,"date":"2019-02-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/19\/global-engagement-opportunity-for-faculty-announced\/"},"modified":"2022-09-02T17:09:03","modified_gmt":"2022-09-02T22:09:03","slug":"global-engagement-opportunity-for-faculty-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/19\/global-engagement-opportunity-for-faculty-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Global engagement opportunity for faculty announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>In an effort to help support a continued focus on global engagement across the University of Nebraska system, a new faculty support opportunity has been announced by the NU Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.<\/p>\n<p>Funding is being provided to two faculty members from each NU campus to participate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/icci.indiana.edu\/\">Institute for Curriculum and Campus Internationalization (ICCI)<\/a>, hosted by Indiana University, Bloomington, from May 19-22. <\/p>\n<p>As part of this effort, NU will provide funding to cover registration, conference hotel, airline tickets, meals and local transportation in exchange for the selected faculty to apply their experience in the following ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify one or more courses they currently teach, and work to increase the coverage or treatment of global perspectives in those courses within six months of attending ICCI.\n<li>Write a 2-5 page report about the ICCI and what they think are the key take-aways for their department, college, and NU campus. Present that report to their department chair, college dean and campus senior international officer.\n<li>Give at least two presentations to faculty on their campus regarding the ICCI and the process of increasing global perspectives in the on-campus curriculum.\n<li>Identify methods, beyond regular course assignments and final grades, to assess the short- and-or-long-term impact of their curricular efforts on students, through such items as pre\/post assessment activities or a system of tracking students and their post-course engagement, including career development.<\/ul>\n<p>To be considered for funding, faculty must be an assistant, associate or full professor, or an equivalent-rank professor of practice, who have been employed by a University of Nebraska campus for at least two years. <\/p>\n<p>In order to apply or be nominated, a faculty member must provide two supporting documents before the deadline, Thursday, Feb. 28:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A personal statement addressing how they would address each of the four requirements for participation.\n<li>A letter of support from the faculty member&#8217;s department chair or school director.<\/ul>\n<p>Both documents should be no more than two pages long.<\/p>\n<p>All nomination materials should be sent to Jane Meza, associate vice chancellor for Global Engagement, at <a
