Dr. Summers, who is assistant professor, internal medicine &#8212; pulmonary for UNMC, earned his top ranking as &#8220;patients consider him to be exceptionally thorough and value his ability to explain things in terms they understand.&#8221; He is board-certified in sleep medicine and critical care medicine.<\/p>\n<p><b>C.A.R.E. Program offers new groups in March, April<\/b><br \/>\nThe Munroe-Meyer Institute, in collaboration with the Nebraska Guild Grant, offers a Community Autism Resource Education (C.A.R.E.) program for families that have a child who is at-risk, or recently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. C.A.R.E. is a four-week caregiver program that provides a jump-start for families to access support and resources for children with autism and their families. There are two upcoming groups for which caregivers can register. There are a total of four classes per group, and all classes are held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Munroe-Meyer Institute. The next two groups will be offered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mondays in March (4, 11, 18, 25)\n<li>Thursdays in April (4, 11, 18, 25)<\/ul>\n<p>Families can register or get more information by contacting Katie Brown at 402-599-8898.<\/p>\n<p><b>College of Allied Health Professions maintains dominance at Trek Up the Tower<\/b><br \/>\nThe College of Allied Health Professions Trek Up the Tower Team won this year&#8217;s Small Business Corporate Division for the third year in a row. Top finishers for the team included Kevin Howard, Jeremy Boldt, Anne Wildermuth and Melissa Dorr, who carried the team with an average time of 7:50 minutes (the team time &#8211; and therefore place &#8211; is determined by the top four times &#8211; top two males and top two females). Howard finished seventh overall. There were a total of 1,831 finishers overall.<\/p>\n<p>Trek Up the Tower was held Feb. 16. Participants climb 40 flights of stairs at the First National Bank of Omaha tower. Proceeds go to WELLCOM. <\/p>\n<p><b>Maverick Run offers discount for UNMC\/UNO alumni<\/b><br \/>\nThe Maverick Run, which will be held at the Baxter Arena on Saturday, April 20, is offering $5 off registration to UNMC and UNO alumni. The event will feature a 5K walk, a 5K run and a 10K run. Children ages 5-12 can register for free for an 800-meter fun run and activities inside the arena. (The code is not valid for 10K and 5K children&#8217;s pricing or the &#8220;Register Two for $40&#8221; special.)<\/p>\n<p><b>Community open house Saturday for new Clarkson Family Medicine location<\/b><br \/>\nThe new Clarkson Family Medicine location at 1319 Leavenworth St. in Omaha, will hold a community open house on Saturday, March 3.<\/p>\n<p>The new location will open on March 18. <\/p>\n<p>The building was constructed in 1895 and was first the home of Bakers Supply, a wholesale business that supplied baking materials in bulk. The historic space was last used as a CHI Health clinic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because it was last used as a clinic, we were able to practice sustainability by reusing some of the cabinets and nurse station locations,&#8221; said Chris Ehlers, facilities project manager. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to being able to reuse some of the existing equipment, the renovated space will still feature unique aspects of the original building to preserve its character, such as exposed brick and wood beams.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Historic buildings are fun and challenging to work on,&#8221; Ehlers said. &#8220;We enjoy combining the classic design elements with new finishes. The clinic is really starting to shape up and the results speak for themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Volunteer Services hosting sale at Durham Outpatient Center<\/b><br \/>\nVolunteer Services is hosting its semi-annual Collective Goods\/Book Sale on March 11-13 at the Durham Outpatient&#8217;s Center&#8217;s West Atrium.\u00a0The sale will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.\u00a0The
