{"id":64290,"date":"2019-02-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-26T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/26\/walk-and-roll-for-disabilities-to-be-held-march-3-at-oak-view-mall\/"},"modified":"2022-08-29T16:02:12","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T21:02:12","slug":"walk-and-roll-for-disabilities-to-be-held-march-3-at-oak-view-mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/02\/26\/walk-and-roll-for-disabilities-to-be-held-march-3-at-oak-view-mall\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk and Roll for Disabilities to be held March 3 at Oak View Mall"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>The Meyer Foundation for Disabilities annual Walk and Roll for Disabilities event will be held Sunday, March 3, at Oak View Mall.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nRegistration begins at 9 a.m., with the Walk and Roll starting at 10:30 a.m. At 11:15 a.m., prizes will be awarded, including for the largest team and the top fundraisers.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nSome of the highlights of the event will be:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PartyPicsToGo will be there to take your picture &#8211; have a cup of coffee from Scooters and a bagel or fruit from Family Fare while you are waiting!<\/li>\n<li>The 501st Legion Central Garrison (aka Star Wars) &#8211; see if The Force is with you!<\/li>\n<li>Come and see Dearheart the Clown and her friends and get your face painted!<\/li>\n<li>You can cheer with the Millard North and Omaha Burke Sparkle Cheerleaders and march along with the Omaha Burke Drum Group.<\/li>\n<li>Visit at a table with non-profits in the community who provide services and activities for individuals with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To register as an individual or start\/join a team,&nbsp;<u><a href=\"http:\/\/meyerfoundation.ezeventsolutions.com\/MFWalkAndRoll\/page\/Home\/\"><span style=\"color:windowtext\">click here<\/span><\/a><\/u>. Participants can register right up to the start of the event. Cost is $30.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe event is put on by the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities (MFD), which raises funds to support the Thursday night recreational program for adults with developmental disabilities at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The MMI programs include the Cooking Club and the Wheel Club.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nParticipants will make a direct impact on enhancing these programs for MMI&rsquo;s adults.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color:rgb(87, 87, 87)\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/mmi\/\">Munroe-Meyer Institute&nbsp;<\/a>is committed to unlocking the potential of children and adults with developmental disabilities and genetic disorders through exceptional patient care, education and research.
