{"id":64662,"date":"2019-04-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-04T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/04\/04\/intramural-golf-league-registration-open\/"},"modified":"2019-04-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-04T05:00:00","slug":"intramural-golf-league-registration-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/04\/04\/intramural-golf-league-registration-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Intramural golf league registration open"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>UNMC returns to Elmwood Golf Course every Thursday from May through August this summer for its intramural golf league. <\/p>\n<div class=\"callout-right\">\n<h3>How to join<\/h3>\n<p><b>How to start a new team<\/b><br \/>\nDo you have a group of four-10 golfers? <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/cfhl\/intramural\/golf.html\">Create your team<\/a>.\n<li>Instruct your teammates to register with your team through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/cfhl\/intramural\/golf.html\">the league website<\/a>.\n<li>Pay the $60 team registration fee at the Center for Healthy Living by April 24.\n<li>Attend the captain&#8217;s meeting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Student Life Center.<\/ul>\n<p><b>How to join without a team<\/b><br \/>\nNo team? No problem! Register as a free agent through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/cfhl\/intramural\/golf.html\">the league website<\/a>. Whether you&#8217;re looking to join a team for the entire season OR fill in as a sub, we can help. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the option to join an existing team.\n<li>Select the team named &#8220;Free Agents&#8221; from the drop-down menu.\n<li>Fill out the required fields in the form and click &#8220;Submit Registration.&#8221;<\/ul>\n<p>Once you complete these steps, expect an email within seven days with more information about the golf league and next steps!\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>One of its longest running and most popular leagues, the intramural golf league offers UNMC and Nebraska Medicine faculty, staff, and students a chance to get outside and enjoy the links. Although its ranks are graced by the occasional scratch golfer, this is an inclusive league that offers golfers of all skill levels a healthy balance of competition and recreation. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tms.ezfacility.com\/OnlineRegistrations\/Register.aspx?CompanyID=5407&#038;GroupID=2405782\">Click here to sign up for UNMC&#8217;s intramural golf league!<\/a> Teams must register by April 24. <\/p>\n<p><b>League play<\/b><br \/>\nTeams are composed of a roster of four to 10 golfers. Squads are given the flexibility to rotate the four golfers who represent their side from week-to-week. The season is played in a round-robin format with teams scheduled to face a new opponent every Thursday for nine holes of medal and match play. Don&#8217;t let the details intimidate you &#8212; automated score sheets with step-by-step instructions are available so that all you have to worry about is showing up when it&#8217;s your turn to golf.<\/p>\n<p><b>Individual handicaps<\/b><br \/>\nA handicap is based on a golfer&#8217;s five most recent outings. That means there&#8217;s no need to beat yourself up about one bad night since that score will soon be forgotten. Golfers may find their handicaps (and scores, results, etc.) online through <a href=\"https:\/\/ezleagues.ezfacility.com\/leagues\/352614\/Golf.aspx\">EZLeagues<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Prizes<\/b><br \/>\nThe team with the best record during the season will be immortalized on the traveling trophy. The winners of the postseason scramble will be awarded the coveted Intramural Championship T-shirts.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a
