{"id":64773,"date":"2019-04-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/04\/16\/schwartz-center-rounds-to-discuss-foster-care\/"},"modified":"2019-04-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T05:00:00","slug":"schwartz-center-rounds-to-discuss-foster-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/04\/16\/schwartz-center-rounds-to-discuss-foster-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Schwartz Center Rounds to discuss foster care"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Social worker Maggie Neujahr of the Munroe-Meyer Institute will join Schalisha Walker, youth advisor from Project Everlast and three Project Everlast Youth Council members for Wednesday&#8217;s Schwartz Center Rounds on &#8220;Caring for Foster Children,&#8221; to be held from 11:50 a.m.-12:50 p.m. in the Eppley Science Hall, Room 3010.<\/p>\n<p>The event is hosted by Fostering the Future, a Legacy Project sponsored by the UNMC Office of Community Engagement and the Schwartz Center Rounds Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Following the conference learners should be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Describe strategies to assist youth who are in foster care to navigate the health care system;\n<li>Identify barriers that foster children encounter when accessing the health care system; and\n<li>Identify effective communication strategies to improve rapport building when serving children who are in the foster care system.<\/ul>\n<p>Lunch will be provided beginning at 11:45 a.m. to the first 70 participants.<\/p>\n<p><b>Accreditation statements<\/b><br \/>\nThe UNMC Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. <\/p>\n<p>The UNMC Center for Continuing Education designates this live activity for maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.<\/p>\n<p>1.0 contact hour awarded. Nebraska Medicine is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center&#8217;s Commission on Accreditation. You must be able to attend the entire presentation to receive the contact hour.
