UNMC medical students and residents were well represented at this year’s Central Group on Educational Affairs (CGEA) Spring Conference. The conference was held from March 27-29 in Grand Rapids, Mich. It was hosted by Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. The CGEA is part of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and includes medical schools in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

\nShannon Haines, M.D., a pediatrics resident, gave a research presentation entitled, "Effectiveness of Interactive E-Learning Modules to Teach Students in the Pediatrics Medical Student Clerkship." She co-authored this work with Joseph Pachunka, M.D., a first-year resident in medicine\/pediatrics. Their faculty mentors were Kari Simonsen, M.D., professor, pediatrics infectious diseases, Nathan Gollehon, M.D., assistant professor, pediatrics newborn medicine, and Peggy Moore, director of E-Learning.

\nStephen Haller, an M.D.\/Ph.D. student, and Jared Baxter, a medical student, gave a research presentation entitled, "Student-organized Financial Development Seminar Series Increases Health Professions Students’ Confidence in Personal Finance." They conducted their research with M.D.\/Ph.D. student Laura Flores and medical student Jeremy Payne with mentoring from two College of Medicine administrators, Kari Nelson, Ph.D., research and education program manager, and Mike McGlade, senior associate dean for administration.
