UNMC has been made aware that Richard Azizkhan, M.D., will be stepping down as president and CEO of Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and that Rodrigo Lopez, chairman of AmeriSphere Companies and former chair of the Children’s Board of Directors, will assume the interim leadership role.<\/p>\n

“We’re extremely grateful to Dr. Azizkhan for all of his hard work and look forward to working with Mr. Lopez during the interim,” said UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D.<\/p>\n

“UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are deeply tied to Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, and we have hundreds of students, residents and fellows who train throughout its facilities as part of their academic journey. In addition, many of our faculty provide clinical care at Children’s inpatient and outpatient facilities. This is a critically important relationship for us and an integral part of the region’s health care community.”<\/p>\n
