Bridge to Care, a student-led interprofessional organization at the University of Nebraska Medical Center focused on refugee health, will host its annual Fall Refugee Health Fair, Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Omaha Benson High School, 5120 Maple St.
\n 
\nBridge to Care is supported by the UNMC Center for Reducing Health Disparities and the Office of Community Engagement. UNMC students from all colleges will volunteer at the health fair alongside 22 community vendors, to provide health education, screenings and services to an expected 400-500 refugees from Omaha communities such as the Sudanese, Somali, Karen and Bhutanese.
\n 
\nFree services will include vision assessment, dental screenings, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement, blood pressure checks and glucose level screenings.
\n 
\nUNMC groups that will contribute services for the refugees include: Ophthalmology and Dermatology Departments, College of Pharmacy, SHARING Clinics, and Be the Match.
\n 
\nCommunity vendors include NOAH Clinic, Creighton Family Medicine Residency Clinic, Creighton University Dental, One World, Charles Drew, Methodist Hospital, Methodist College, United Health Care, Douglas County Health Department and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
\n 
\nRefugee cultural orientation with Alana Schriver, refugee specialist for the Omaha Public Schools, will be held Oct. 29, from noon – 1 p.m. in Room 2010 of the Sorrell Center.
