When we call UNMC a world leader in education and research, we’re not talking about classrooms and laboratories. When we say UNMC is Nebraska’s No. 1 resource for health sciences education and extraordinary care for patients, we’re not talking about books and beds. We’re talking about you.<\/p>\n

From Sept. 30 through Oct. 11, UNMC employees are encouraged to participate in UNMC Gives Back<\/a>. This effort asks UNMC faculty and staff members to consider a charitable gift to support those who make this university one of the nation’s best — our students and our colleagues. UNMC Gives Back will focus on two areas where we can make an immediate impact — student well-being and employee assistance.<\/p>\n

Our students and residents are the reason we are here, and their wellness is a vital and critical issue we strive to address. The pressures of health care education can be difficult to manage. However, if our students feel supported by our faculty and staff, we set them up for success today and in the future.<\/p>\n

Wellness and support are just as important for you, the faculty and staff of UNMC. We can be prepared to support each other through thick and thin by giving our university flexibility to help employees and students in need, whatever the situation. It’s our way of caring for each other as much as we care for our students and our patients.<\/p>\n

“One of the best parts of working at UNMC is being part of a community of professionals who strive to innovate and collaborate for the sake of our students, our patients, and our state,” said Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold. “It’s the people here at our university — our students, our staff and our faculty — that make UNMC innovative, engaging and indispensable. This initiative is not about the amount of our gifts. It’s about going all-in on the campuses and community where we innovate, educate and care every day.”<\/p>\n
