A group of Clarkson College Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) who trained alongside Department of Anesthesiology faculty and staff recently completed their program’s clinical requirements and were awarded Master of Science in Nursing degrees.
\n 
\nClarkson College’s nurse anesthesia program is front loaded, meaning SRNAs begin with an intensive didactic phase followed by an 18-month clinical practicum at one of several designated hospitals in the region. This year, six SRNAs, listed below, completed their clinical requirements on the UNMC campus. Each nurse anesthesia class at Clarkson College has about 15 SRNAs.

\nThe graduates and their immediate plans are:

\nErin Bruggeman<\/strong> (formerly Swett), Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital
\nLuke Goedert<\/strong>, Nebraska Medicine
\nDrew Kummer<\/strong>, Nebraska Medicine
\nSara Park<\/strong>, Nebraska Medicine
\nMaryCate Raynor<\/strong>, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center

\nDuring their time on campus, they learned from and worked alongside Department of Anesthesiology faculty and staff.
\n 
\n“The anesthesia providers at UNMC are first-class teachers and mentors when it comes to educating the future of anesthesia,” Brown said. “They are all approachable and in touch with the latest in the field. My time at UNMC was absolutely amazing.”
\n 
\nSRNAs training at UNMC can rely upon the CRNA mentors and the CRNA Education Committee for guidance on their journey to becoming nurse anesthetists.
\n 
\n“It’s been a privilege watching these SRNAs learn and grow,” said CRNA Emily Glaser, who is also a member of the CRNA Education Committee. “I applaud their hard work, energy, positive attitudes, receptiveness and curiosity. I also want to thank all the wonderful clinicians and educators at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine for making this a tremendous site for clinical education.”
