Employees now can donate more leave time to help their colleagues.<\/p>\n

The Crisis Leave Bank provides employees the opportunity to donate accrued vacation leave for potential use in emergency situations by other UNMC employees whose leave has been exhausted. The maximum amount of accrued vacation leave that can be donated is normally three days. <\/p>\n

Due to the exceptional circumstance presented by COVID-19, Human Resources has responded by approving an increase in the maximum amount of accrued vacation leave that can be donated. Effective immediately, employees may donate up to five days<\/b> of accrued vacation leave per calendar year to the crisis leave pool. <\/p>\n

“The UNMC community is a supportive and caring one,” said Linda Cunningham, associate director of the UNMC Department of Human Resources. “We’ve heard from many people who want to support there colleagues by donating more than three days.” <\/p>\n

Until further notice, employees will have the option of donating up to five days<\/b> (40 hours) of accrued vacation leave to the crisis leave bank. Vacation leave is still capped at 280 hours and only hours that have been accrued may be donated. Employees must complete and submit the crisis leave donation form<\/a> to their supervisor for verification of hours.<\/p>\n

Employees can contact the UNMC Department of Human Resources-Employee Relations at 402-559-8534 with questions.<\/p>\n

In addition, for employees who are at the 280-hour vacation limit, until further notice, vacation hours that would have been earned by those employees if they were not at the 280-hour limit will be calculated and added to the university’s crisis leave bank. Employees at the 280-hour limit do not have to fill out the form to make this happen.
