{"id":67607,"date":"2020-04-02T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-02T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2020\/04\/02\/travel-guidelines-updated-for-faculty-staff-and-students\/"},"modified":"2020-04-02T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T05:00:00","slug":"travel-guidelines-updated-for-faculty-staff-and-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2020\/04\/02\/travel-guidelines-updated-for-faculty-staff-and-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel guidelines updated for faculty, staff and students"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Based on the widespread activity of COVID-19 across every state in the U.S., UNMC is issuing new guidance to further protect all employees and students.<\/p>\n<p>This policy is an update on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2020\/03\/19\/guidance-for-work-after-travel-for-staff-students\/\">previous guidance<\/a> given in relation to travel dated March 19 and updated March 23. Nebraska Medicine also has released <a href=\"https:\/\/app1.unmc.edu\/PublicAffairs\/TodaySite\/images\/siteimages\/TravelHCW.pdf\" target=\"_blanK\" rel=\"noopener\">updated guidance for health care workers returning to work after travel.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements:<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upon returning from any travel outside Nebraska (domestic or international), all UNMC faculty, staff and students (with the exemptions noted below) returning to any community in Nebraska are required to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days. Due to the rapidly changing conditions in most states and countries and the challenges of knowing where there may be widespread transmission, this guideline is consistent with current recommendations from the CDC, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and the county health departments for travelers returning from regions with widespread sustained transmission.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Exemptions<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This rule does not apply to staff, faculty, residents and fellows who are involved in providing patient care or support for patient care at Nebraska Medicine, Children&#8217;s Hospital of Omaha and other clinical settings who are expected to follow the rules set by the respective clinical institution or clinical unit.\n<li>This rule does not apply to personnel or students living in a neighboring state and who commute routinely to work or school at one of UNMC&#8217;s campuses.<\/ul>\n<p><b>Who to Notify:<\/b> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If required to go into self-quarantine due to travel or symptoms, the individual must notify Employee Health or Student Health, and the local county health department as appropriate for a standardized wellness screening and\/or testing prior to returning to work or campus for any reason.<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New guidance will further protect all
