Dr. Hewlett elected president of Musculoskeletal Infection Society<\/b> <\/p>\n

Angela Hewlett, MD, associate professor of infectious diseases and director of the UNMC Orthopedic Infectious Diseases Service, was elected president of the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS) at the MSIS Annual Scientific meeting in August. The MSIS is a multidisciplinary professional organization dedicated to advancement of knowledge in the field of musculoskeletal infections. MSIS members include orthopaedic surgeons, infectious diseases specialists, research scientists and others with an interest in the clinical management of patients with complicated bone and joint infections as well as basic and clinical research. The annual scientific meeting includes multiple interactive symposia and abstract presentations, presented by internationally recognized experts in the field. Dr. Hewlett has served on the MSIS Executive Board since 2018. <\/p>\n

Blood drive set on campus for Sept. 22<\/b><\/p>\n

The next UNMC Campus Blood Drive is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. inside a Nebraska Community Blood Bank bloodmobile parked in front of the Durham Research Center. The Nebraska Community Blood Bank has an electronic scheduling system. Donor can schedule an appointment for the drive here<\/a>. (Enter sponsor code NMRT or call 1-402-486-9414.) Faculty Senate to meet on Tuesdays in 2020-21<\/b><\/p>\n

The UNMC Faculty Senate will no longer meet on the first working Monday of the month. Instead, the group will meet on the first working Tuesday of the month, September through June, at 5 p.m. in the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center (Buffett- LVL Ground 0-12103) and via Zoom. Wellbeing Partners to hold webinar on remote learning<\/b><\/p>\n

For parents in the UNMC community who have child in remote learning, The Wellbeing Partners will hold a webinar on Sept. 23 from noon-12:45 p.m. on addressing the challenges of remote learning.<\/p>\n
