Nominations are now being accepted for the UNMC Academic Affairs Impact in Education Awards.<\/p>\n

The seven awards recognize the dedication and ingenuity of UNMC educators. The top award is the Varner Educator Laureate, which recognizes an individual with sustained achievement in education who has significantly improved the UNMC learning environment. Other award categories include innovation, leadership, mentorship, service, interprofessional education and research. <\/p>\n

“Now, more than ever, it is important to recognize our talented and innovative teaching and mentoring faculty,” said Dele Davies, MD, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs. “These peer-reviewed awards are just one way we can honor the great contributions faculty make in enabling UNMC to be the most learner-focused health science center in the nation. We strongly encourage all faculty and staff to nominate their colleagues for these campuswide awards.”<\/p>\n

Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12; the nomination form<\/a> takes less than two minutes to complete. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominees will have until Nov. 16 to complete their nomination materials. <\/p>\n

Recipients receive award funds, recognition at the annual award ceremony to be held in February 2021, and their name displayed on a plaque in the academic affairs office. <\/p>\n

Due to network difficulties, the Impact in Education Award website cannot be updated to reflect the 2020-2021 awards.
