The Olson Women’s Health Resource Center has announced a new virtual book club in collaboration with the Leon S. McGoogan Health Sciences Library.
\n

As an aspect of the Wellness Through Doing Series, the book club provides an opportunity for members of the UNMC\/Nebraska Medicine community to reduce stress and improve mood.
\n

“Participating in a book club provides a social outlet, encourages reading for pleasure and offers opportunities to engage in conversation with new perspectives,” said Lana Molczyk, manager of the center. “If you have never participated in a book club before, this is a great opportunity to try one out.”
\n

The book club will read and discuss “The Ripple Effect” by Greg Wells, PhD. “The Ripple Effect” exposes exercise and diet myths to inspire and lead readers on a path to achieving a health and fitness transformation. With small and achievable daily changes in their lives, readers will see the effects of aggregate gains in healthy living including eating, moving and sleeping better.
\n

Discussion will be led by Jess King, education and research services librarian, and Christian Minter, community engagement and health literacy librarian. King and Minter are both assistant professors with the McGoogan Health Sciences Library.
\n

Beginning March 8, the book club will meet alternating Monday evenings from 6 -7 p.m. via Zoom for a total of five meetings. Members are expected to attend every meeting. There is no cost to participate in the book club aside from the cost of the required book.
