The UNMC Office of Inclusion invites the campus community to discuss cultural humility during its next “Conversations for Inclusive Excellence” on March 11.
\n

Sheritta Strong, MD, director of inclusion, will moderate the virtual session, which runs from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants can join the meeting via Zoom<\/a>.
\n

Sociologist Julie Hogan, PhD<\/a>, associate professor at the University of Nevada Reno, will take a deep dive into the concept of cultural competence and offer cultural humility as a richer, more meaningful way to understand not only the culture of others, but also American culture. Attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss what cultural humility means, as well as re-examine concepts of cultural competency within our organization.

Sponsored by the Office of Inclusion, “Conversations for Inclusive Excellence” allow participants to engage in meaningful and, at times, uncomfortable conversations to co-create understanding. Participants gain tools to continue the dialogue within their departments and offices. The sessions, which take place the second Thursday of every month, challenge participants and the assumptions we all make consciously and unconsciously.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
