In March, hundreds of high school students from across Nebraska will convene online for the yearly Health Occupation Student Alliance (HOSA) state competition and leadership conference.
\n

HOSA is an extracurricular organization for middle and high students who are interested in becoming future health professionals. Nebraska Medicine and UNMC are long-time partners of this organization having served as a site host during previous in-person events.
\n

Scheduled for March 21-23, students will participate in nearly 50 competitive events including math, forensic science, nursing assisting and public speaking.
\n

To ensure everything runs smoothly, volunteers are being recruited to serve as judges, timekeepers and event hosts. Most of these events require no specific background knowledge or training. Those interested in participating as volunteers may sign-up here<\/a>.<\/b>
\n

When signing up for specific events, volunteers should know that the scheduled times may change slightly depending on the number of competitors in each event. A member of HOSA’s competitive events team will contact each volunteer with more information as the event draws near. Learn more about each event<\/a>.

Volunteering for and with this organization does qualify for the Nebraska Medicine Community Strong paid time off program. More information about the Community Strong program can be found here<\/a>.
