Conversations for Inclusive Excellence to hold a lunch event today<\/b>
\n

Reactions to the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial will be the focus of the next “Conversations for Inclusive Excellence” event, a lunch-and-listen discussion today from 12:05-12:50 p.m.
\n

There has been a variety of emotional reactions to recent events related to the verdict in the Chauvin trial. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch and listen to reactions. Also, attendees are asked to come prepared to share thoughts on the trial, the verdict and their own feelings.
\n

As always, the “Conversations for Inclusive Excellence” series serves to create a space for safe, reflective conversation that allow the co-creation of perspective for broader and more nuanced understandings of each other and our society.
\n

Nursing’s Dr. Hetland receives national recognition<\/b>
\n

Breanna Hetland, PhD, assistant professor in the UNMC College of Nursing Omaha Division, has received the Nursing Assembly Early Career Achievement Award from the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
\n

The award recognizes an individual who, early in his or her career, has made outstanding contributions to nursing in the areas of research, clinical care, teaching and\/or service. It also recognizes contributions focused on patient and family responses related to pulmonary conditions, critical illness or sleep disorders.
\n

The ATS aims to improve health worldwide by advancing research, clinical care and public health in respiratory disease, critical illness and sleep disorders. Members include more than 16,000 physicians, research scientists, nurses and other allied health care professionals (32 percent of whom work outside the United States).
\n

Panel will discuss science and health policy in industry<\/b>
\n

A Health Policy Seminar Series panel talk on “Science and Health Policy in Industry” will be held on Tuesday, April 27, from noon to 12:45 p.m. via Zoom or in person at the McGoogan Library sixth floor.
\n

The event, presented by UNMC student delegates and the UNMC Primary Care Progress Chapter, is designed for UNMC students; faculty and staff also may attend.
\n
