If you ask Nebraska Medicine CRNAs about their colleague, Nick Stalnaker, they would likely tell you about a time he took the lead on a project that positively impacted them.
\n 
\nThe stories go like this: Not only did Nick play a pivotal role in starting a CRNA simulation program at the Davis Global Center, he did it through the challenges of a pandemic. Nick is always looking for ways to elevate the level of care CRNAs provide. He’s held journal clubs and has a wealth of knowledge on how to best manage our diverse patient population.
\n 
\nNick was the first CRNA to orient in the ICUs in the initial phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Afterward, he shared the protocols with his colleagues. When SRNAs are with Nick, they can expect to see his passion for education through enriching and challenging clinical days that prepare them for their future.
\n 
\nThese stories and more came out through Nebraska Medicine’s Extraordinary Nurse Award which Stalnaker will be presented with on Wednesday, May 12, 1 – 2 p.m. via Zoom as part of the Nurse’s Week Celebration. Recipients are selected from each department based upon their patient care and advocacy, exemplary and professional behavior, and adaptability.
