Nursing’s Dr. Hoffman selected to serve on NIH study section<\/b>
\n

Amy Hoffman, PhD, has been selected to serve as a member of the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Scientific Review. Dr. Hoffman, a professor in the UNMC College of Nursing Omaha Division, will serve on the Interdisciplinary Clinical Care in Specialty Care Settings Study Section for a four-year term beginning July 1.
\n

The Center for Scientific Review is the gateway for NIH grant applications and review for scientific merit. Peer review groups or study sections evaluate the majority — 75% — of the research grant applications submitted to the NIH as well as for some other components of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
\n

The Interdisciplinary Clinical Care in Specialty Care Settings Study Section reviews applications addressing clinical management of patients in institutional and inpatient settings, as well as patients in some ambulatory settings. Studies reviewed have direct patient care implications or are closely associated with clinical practice.
\n

“I am thankful and honored to have been selected to serve in this role,” Dr. Hoffman said. “I look forward to working with scientists across the country to help shape the state-of-the-science in research.”
\n

Members are selected for their demonstrated competence and achievement in scientific discipline, publications in scientific journals and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.

Tabatha Matthias, DO, takes new role in UNMC Division of Hospital Medicine<\/b><\/p>\n

The UNMC Department of Internal Medicine Division of Hospital Medicine has named Tabatha Matthias, DO, as associate division chief for clinical operations. Chad Vokoun, MD, chief of the division, credits Dr. Matthias, who has organized and been leading clinical operations, as key to the division’s growth and the great care of the inpatient population.
