Nebraska Medical Orchestra resumes rehearsal sessions, is accepting new members<\/b>

The Nebraska Medical Orchestra held its first rehearsal since the start of the pandemic this week, on June 30 at the Sorrell Center at UNMC.
\n

The orchestra is a collaboration between the University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Music and UNMC. The volunteer orchestra is open to all health care-related musicians in Nebraska, including students, staff and faculty from UNMC, Nebraska Medicine and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.
\n

Director Matthew Brooks, DMA, said the orchestra, with 55 musicians, currently is accepting new members. Interested eligible musicians can email the orchestra<\/a> for information on joining the summer practices, which will run weekly through Aug. 18.
\n

The rehearsals, which adhere to UNMC’s current COVID-19 safety protocols, are not in preparation for a performance at this time, Dr. Brooks said.
\n

“We are excited to get back to music-making after a long, hard year,” he said. “We are gathering in an effort to polish off the rust, so we’re all refreshed and ready to go again in the fall.”

Drs. Mikuls, Wheeler named to resident research preceptorships<\/b>
\n

The Rheumatology Research Foundation has awarded the Dr. Ephraim P. Engleman Resident Research Preceptorship to Ted Mikuls, MD, and Austin Wheeler, MD, in the UNMC Division of Rheumatology. The purpose of the resident research preceptorship is to introduce residents to the specialty of rheumatology by supporting a full-time research experience, with the goal of attracting promising physician scientists to the field of rheumatology.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
