{"id":71970,"date":"2021-10-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2021\/10\/12\/arab-health-summit-explores-advancing-health-equity-for-women\/"},"modified":"2022-09-27T15:42:47","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T20:42:47","slug":"arab-health-summit-explores-advancing-health-equity-for-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2021\/10\/12\/arab-health-summit-explores-advancing-health-equity-for-women\/","title":{"rendered":"Arab Health Summit explores &#8216;Advancing Health Equity for Women&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>Registration now is open for the ninth Annual Arab Health Summit, which will discuss &#8220;Advancing Health Equity for Women&#8221; and feature a presentation by Jane Meza, PhD, UNMC\u2019s associate vice chancellor for global engagement and interim executive director for the office of health security.<\/p>\n<p>The summit, held virtually on Oct. 19-21, is hosted by ACCESS, the nation\u2019s largest Arab American community nonprofit. The UNMC Office of Global Engagement also is a sponsor.<\/p>\n<p>This conference promotes discussions on health rights, public health research,&nbsp;community engagement and more, among speakers and attendees representing the United States and several Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries.<\/p>\n<p><b>Registration is now open and complimentary to the first 10 UNMC students.<\/b> To register, use the access code <b>unmc100<\/b>. Faculty and staff are welcome to join for a fee that includes continuing medical education and continuing education unit credits. Please register <a href=\"https:\/\/whova.com\/portal\/registration\/acces_202109\" style=\"color:blue; text-decoration:underline\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As well as Dr. Meza, the summit\u2019s lineup of international speakers includes experts who work as medical providers, public health professionals, academics and scholars, epidemiologists, policymakers and mental health professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers and panelists will focus on the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maternal and child health<\/li>\n<li>Healthy aging<\/li>\n<li>Chronic disease<\/li>\n<li>Substance use prevention<\/li>\n<li>Intimate partner violence and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Arab Health Summit also will offer daily workshops and training focused on feminist approaches to public health research,&nbsp;early childhood health and more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This conference is a unique opportunity to address global health disparities and will serve as a major platform for its attendees to share best practices as well as strategic solutions to improve health on a&nbsp;global scale,&#8221;
