UNMC will host two cancer-related conferences for health professionals in February via Zoom: 2022 Hematology Highlights: A Post ASH Review and Contemporary Management of Cancer Risk and Prevention Symposium.<\/p>\n

As an accredited continuing education provider, UNMC will provide continuing education credit.<\/p>\n

The American Society of Hematology review conference will offer updates from the society’s 2021 annual meeting. It will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, from 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Feb. 2. The conference directors are Lori Maness-Harris, MD, and R. Gregory Bociek, MD.<\/p>\n

The conference is designed to provide updates on new treatments and management of acute and chronic leukemia, thrombosis\/hemostasis, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative neoplasms. The speakers are experts in their field and will join us from other institutions around the country.<\/p>\n

The target audience is physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, residents and fellows in the specialty areas of oncology, hematology, internal medicine, radiation oncology and pathology.<\/p>\n

The cost is nominal for health professionals and free for residents and fellows. Residents and fellows are asked to complete this registration form<\/a> and submit along with verification of your resident\/fellow status.<\/p>\n

Contemporary Management of Cancer Risk and Prevention Symposium will be presented on Friday, Feb. 11, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration deadline is Feb. 8. The conference directors are Kelsey A. Klute, MD, Jessica Maxwell, MD, and Rachael Schmidt, DNP.<\/p>\n

It will provide an update on cancer risk and prevention management with an emphasis on genetic testing, high-risk surveillance and risk-reducing treatment recommendations. Other topics will include pre-implantation genetic testing, bialletic implications and who to refer to hereditary cancer genetic care. The keynote speaker is Nigel Brockton, PhD, from the University of Calgary.<\/p>\n

The intended audience is primary care\/internal medicine providers, genetic counselors and nurses, advanced practice providers and other health care professionals who work with patients with a family history of cancer or genetic mutations.<\/p>\n

The registration fees are low cost for health professionals. Though it is free for fellows, residents and students, a separate registration form<\/a> needs to be completed along with verification of your status. Online registration for fellows, residents or students is not available. <\/p>\n
