{"id":73044,"date":"2022-03-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-05T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/03\/05\/cvs-health-foundation-scholarship-grant-awarded-to-the-lincoln-division\/"},"modified":"2022-03-05T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-05T06:00:00","slug":"cvs-health-foundation-scholarship-grant-awarded-to-the-lincoln-division","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/03\/05\/cvs-health-foundation-scholarship-grant-awarded-to-the-lincoln-division\/","title":{"rendered":"CVS Health Foundation Scholarship grant awarded to the Lincoln Division"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p>For the sixth consecutive year, the College of Nursing-Lincoln Division was awarded a CVS Health Foundation Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Physician Assistant Scholarship for the 2021-2022 season. <\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"125\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Kliment030222.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:0.85em; line-height:150%;\">Miranda Kliment, DNP<\/span><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><\/p>\n<p>The CVS Health Foundation provides scholarships to current MinuteClinic-affiliated FNP and physician assistant programs that are accredited Colleges of Nursing and physician assistants schools across the country. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We value our clinical partnership with CVS and the broad engagement we have within the Lincoln community,&#8221; said Miranda Kliment, DNP, clinical assistant professor, UNMC. &#8220;The scholarship opportunities are an extra benefit of being a clinical partner with them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The CVS Health\/MinuteClinic experiences enable students to serve a variety of individuals and learn more about urgent care and retail clinics. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our students see how these areas cross over and the opportunities that exist,&#8221; Dr. Kliment said. &#8220;The experiences also broaden our community engagement within the city of Lincoln.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s College of Nursing FNP student recipients are Amy (Fischer) Collingham and Kim Heinz. Each receive up to $1,000. The annual awards are announced mid-October.<\/p>\n<p>The CVS scholarship funds are distributed directly to qualified schools, with scholarships awarded to full-time or part-time students in good academic standing. Students who receive a scholarship through this program have worked with organizations that are supporting underserved populations. <\/p>\n<p>Recipients are selected regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or national origin. Students are not eligible to apply directly for the funding, but students may express interest to Dr. Kliment or Assistant Dean Michelle Johnson, PhD, between now and Oct.
