Those who donate five items or more will receive a UNMC &#8220;At Our Best Together&#8221; hat (while supplies last). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#595959\">The Maverick Food Pantry contributes to the university&rsquo;s culture of caring by providing those within the UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha&nbsp;communities with food and personal hygiene products, as well as connections to other area resources for support. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><TABLE border=\"0\" width=\"400\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\"><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Hats042722.jpg\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" alt=\"picture disc.\"><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<TR><br \/>\n<TD><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:0.85em; line-height:150%;\">Those who donate five items or more will receive a UNMC &#8220;At Our Best Together&#8221; hat (while supplies last).<\/span><br \/>\n<\/TD><br \/>\n<\/TR><br \/>\n<\/TABLE><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#595959\">On average, the Maverick Food Pantry fills 460 bags during the spring semester. As of last week, the pantry had filled 906 bags for the semester, an increase of 346 bags from last year, and requests are still coming in.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#595959\">&#8220;Food insecurity has always been a concern in our community. With the added challenges of COVID-19 and inflation, we find more students and staff are struggling, and so in return we&rsquo;ve seen an increase in our requests,&#8221; said Madeline St. Clair, Maverick Food Pantry coordinator. With purchasing restrictions, the pantry struggles; any donations we receive truly make&nbsp;a difference and help&nbsp;us to continue our commitment of serving everyone we can.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#595959\">A list of preferred donations can be found below (please ensure donations are not expired):&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type:disc\">\n<li>peanut butter<\/li>\n<li>soups<\/li>\n<li>canned fruits<\/li>\n<li>canned veggies<\/li>\n<li>grains (rice, pasta, cereal are our top three)<\/li>\n<li>pasta sauce<\/li>\n<li>gluten-free options<\/li>\n<li>vegan options;<\/li>\n<li>additional wish list items can be found <span style=\"color:black\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myregistry.com\/organization\/uno-maverick-food-pantry-omaha-ne\/2707147\/giftlist?publicUrlName=unomavfoodpantry\" style=\"color:#0563c1;
