UNMC faculty, staff and students may — for non-emergency safety concerns such as threats, theft and concerning behavior — now file anonymous reports online.<\/p>\n

The UNMC Report of Safety Concern form<\/a> is an option for individuals who prefer to stay anonymous when reporting suspicious or threatening behavior, said Charlotte Evans, chief of police and associate vice chancellor for the UNMC Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n

"This is not for reporting emergency incidents in progress, nor does it replace established reporting methods such as communicating with a supervisor," she said. "Rather, it is just one more option for individuals to report concerns or behaviors that need to be evaluated."<\/p>\n

For immediate or emergency assistance on campus, call UNMC Public Safety Dispatch at 402-559-5555 or 911.<\/b><\/p>\n

Reports filed via the UNMC Report of Safety Concern form<\/a> are checked throughout the day; however, this online method of reporting does not get the same quick attention.<\/p>\n

The form enables reporting individuals to describe the incident or concern, as well as provide supporting documentation such as photos, video or email, if relevant or available.<\/p>\n

The reporting form can be accessed via Public Safety’s Internet page<\/a> and the safety pages of UNMC’s intranet. Soon, it also will appear in the footer of the UNMC website.<\/p>\n

"While we encourage use of the UNMC Report of Safety Concern form<\/a> as a viable tool for non-emergencies, we always appreciate people calling to give us immediate information on an incident or a concern," Evans said.<\/p>\n

Nebraska Medicine employees should continue to submit safety incident reports via the Shout Out for Safety reporting mechanism, which is available on the Nebraska Medicine NOW homepage or mobile app.<\/p>\n
