{"id":78406,"date":"2022-08-12T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/08\/12\/unmc-for-the-record-aug-12-2022\/"},"modified":"2025-02-26T14:33:27","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T20:33:27","slug":"unmc-for-the-record-aug-12-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/08\/12\/unmc-for-the-record-aug-12-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC for the record, Aug. 12, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\"><p><b>International ag safety group honors Aaron Yoder, PhD<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isash.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>International Society for Agricultural Safety and Health<\/u><\/a> honored Aaron Yoder, PhD, associate professor in the UNMC Department of Environmental, Agricultural &amp; Occupational Health, with the organization\u2019s ISASH President\u2019s Award.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Yoder, also representing the Central States Center for Ag Safety and Health, was recognized for stepping up to chair the ISASH By-Laws Committee and helping lead an update of the organization\u2019s bylaws.<\/p>\n<p>He was among six individuals recognized for their contributions to the organization and to the field of agricultural safety and health at its 2022 annual conference in Fort Collins, Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These awards were established to acknowledge leaders who have made significant contributions to protecting people who work in agriculture,&#8221; said Amy Rademaker, incoming ISASH president and Carle Rural Health &amp; Farm Safety Program coordinator, Urbana, Illinois. &#8220;These individuals have made positive impacts on the culture of safety in agriculture through safety training, research, promotion and education.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><b>Med center colleagues donate\u00a0more than 1,500 school supplies<\/b><\/p>\n<table style=\"width: 350px;\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"10\" align=\"right\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/SchoolSupplyDrive081222.jpg\" alt=\"picture disc.\" \/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><!--<span style=\"font-size:0.85em; line-height:150%;\">Insert cutline here<\/span>--><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Colleagues from across the med center donated more than 1,500 school supplies for kids in the community through an organization-wide drive.<\/p>\n<p>For two weeks, colleagues were invited to drop off requested items in bins across UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. They also could purchase items from an Amazon wish list, which were delivered directly to SHARE Omaha.<\/p>\n<p>More than 10 organizations will benefit from the donations
