Jessica Koran-Scholl, PhD, associate professor and director of behavioral health in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine, has joined the UNMC Ombuds Program on a part-time basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Koran-Scholl succeeds Susan Swindells, MBBS, who has stepped down from her ombuds role after 25 years. Dr. Swindells and Ombuds Program Director David Carver, PhD, have been part of the UNMC Ombuds team since its formation in 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will miss working with my long-term ombuds colleague who has done an exceptional job serving our UNMC community,\u201d Dr. Carver said. \u201cI look forward to working with Dr. Koran-Scholl, who will be an outstanding addition to our program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ombuds program is an independent, informal, impartial and confidential resource for students, faculty and staff. Ombuds assist members of the UNMC community in resolving conflicts informally, voluntarily and privately. The ombuds team helps with a wide variety of problems, especially those concerns that are confusing, complicated, upsetting or not being addressed through other university channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Koran-Scholl has assisted with the communication skills section of the medical school curriculum for the past 10 years.
