Stressed, sad, overwhelmed or anxious?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and campus leaders encourage all faculty, staff, residents and students to use the free, confidential support services offered year-round by UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is an amazingly caring institution,\u201d Dr. Gold said during a recent campus forum. Given the many stressors on campus and off, he said, it\u2019s important to reach out to colleagues and see how they are doing, express appreciation, show grace and look out for one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPerhaps no other effort on our campus is as important as our initiative to reduce the outcome and stigma associated with stress, burnout and mental illness, and to provide services for our students, faculty and staff who are experiencing this type of distress.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support services include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/student-success\/support-services\/counseling\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNMC Counseling and Psychological Services<\/a> (students\/residents)<ul><li>At the recent all-campus forum, someone asked for clarification about the wait time for students wanting to see a counselor. Campus leaders closely monitor wait times and say the recent addition of therapists dedicated to UNMC has positioned the department well to see students in a timely fashion. Current wait times to see a counselor are only 2.5 days for UNMC students \u2013 far shorter than some university counseling centers that report waits of 15-plus days.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Call 402-559-7276 year-round to make an appointment&nbsp;(in-person or via Zoom) or with questions. After hours, if someone has&nbsp;a concern and needs help immediately, call the main line at 402-559-7276 and press &#8220;2&#8221; \u2014&nbsp;CAPS has a contract for outside licensed counselors to take the call.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/wellness\/mental-health-resources\/faculty-staff-resources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Employee Assistance Program<\/a> (faculty\/staff)<ul><li>Appointments can be made by calling a live-answered local or toll-free number or by visiting the Arbor Family Counseling website. Day, evening and weekend sessions are available as well as off-site, on-site and web-conferencing options. Contact:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arborfamilycounseling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arbor Family Counseling<\/a>&nbsp;or call 402-330-0960 or 1-800-922-7379.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/wellness\/mental-health-resources\/student-resident-resources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Officer Assistance Program<\/a> (residents)<ul><li>Services for UNMC house officers and their partners are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no fees, no insurance filing and no electronic health records.
