Media training. Headshots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are three of the free services offered by the UNMC Department of Strategic Communications to help promote the people, programs and work being done across UNMC\u2019s campuses. As the UNMC community\u2019s first stop for marketing and communications needs, the department also offers some fee-based services, as well as maintains a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/brandwise.unmc.edu\/unmc\/approved-vendors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preferred vendors for work<\/a><a> <\/a>it cannot take on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/strategic-communications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">department\u2019s services<\/a> span media relations, events, print design, photography, videography, social media, writing and web design. The team\u2019s responsibilities range from highlighting UNMC on social media to managing the brand to pitching experts to local and national media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur department is excited to be a partner with campus units and organizations in achieving their goals through strategic, effective communication,\u201d said Bill O\u2019Neill, executive director of strategic communications. \u201cThis involves not only telling the multitude of terrific stories that UNMC has to share, but appropriately amplifying those messages through a broad array of channels, all while positively reflecting the UNMC brand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a moment and see the many ways in which UNMC Strategic Communications can help you (and your departments\/units) achieve your goals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/strategic-communications\/service-requests\/index.html\">Request services via online forms<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creative services<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Capture and share dynamic campus photography and videography for promotional purposes<\/li><li>Provide video production services \u2014 from creative direction to script writing to editing<\/li><li>Provide faculty\/staff headshots, by appointment, each Thursday<\/li><li>Supply brand-compliant logos<\/li><li>Create annual reports, campus monitor slides, skywalk banners and more<\/li><li>Review and finesse graphic designs and messaging to meet brand standards<\/li><li>Provide brand-compliant templates (PowerPoint slides, scientific posters, email signatures, flyers, letterhead and more) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/strategic-communications\/service-requests\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Access brand identity templates<\/a>)<\/li><li>Order branded event items for departments\/units (contact the UNMC Bookstore for promotional items)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Events<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide branded event materials (tablecloths, easels, bannerstands and more) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/strategic-communications\/service-requests\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reserve event materials<\/a>)<\/li><li>Reserve space in the campus events center, Wigton Heritage Center and the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza<\/li><li>Spotlight experts through the UNMC Speakers Bureau, monthly Science Caf\u00e9 and annual Nebraska Science Festival&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Media relations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Pitch newsworthy stories to local and national media (refer media calls to Strategic Communications, who will coordinate interviews and escort media while on campus)<\/li><li>Provide free media training sessions to help faculty\/staff prepare for interviews<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StrategicCommunications4092222.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-91416\" width=\"485\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StrategicCommunications4092222.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StrategicCommunications4092222-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/StrategicCommunications4092222-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><figcaption>Aurelie Villard, digital media manager for UNMC strategic communications, attended this year&#8217;s #WeAreUNMC Barbecue and posted to UNMC&#8217;s social media accounts.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Social media<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Share best practices and manage requests for social media accounts<\/li><li>Develop social media campaigns for recruitment and\/or awareness<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Web design<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Advise on development and management of UNMC websites and handle requests for websites and domains, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.unmc.edu\/index.php\/Web_Governance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNMC Web Governance Policy<\/a>. The team also provides guidance on requirements, such as web accessibility.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Writing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Assist with <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.monday.com\/forms\/04a98eed6253b8d65ef49f562938a298?r=use1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writing\/editing needs<\/a>.
