Nominations are being accepted for the UNMC-wide Impact in Education Awards<\/a>, the highest education-related awards conferred by the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight awards recognize the dedication and ingenuity of UNMC educators. The top award is the Varner Educator Laureate, which recognizes an individual with sustained achievement in education who has significantly improved the UNMC learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other award categories include emerging educator, innovation, leadership, mentorship, service, interprofessional education and educational research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It has never been more important for us to recognize the contributions of our talented and innovative teaching and mentoring faculty, who continue to shine despite all the pandemic-induced changes and challenges of the past couple years,” said Dele Davies, MD, senior vice chancellor for academic affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These peer-reviewed awards are just one way we honor the dedication and innovation faculty bring to work each day in enabling UNMC to be the most learner-focused health science center in the nation. I strongly encourage all faculty and staff to nominate colleagues for these prestigious campuswide awards.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nominations close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 10; the nomination form<\/a> takes less than two minutes to complete. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominees will have until Nov. 17 to complete their nomination materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recipients receive award funds, recognition at the seventh annual award ceremony in March 2023 and their name displayed on a plaque in the academic affairs office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
