{"id":93170,"date":"2022-11-03T15:05:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T20:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=93170"},"modified":"2022-11-03T18:40:17","modified_gmt":"2022-11-03T23:40:17","slug":"unmc-for-the-record-nov-4-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/11\/03\/unmc-for-the-record-nov-4-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC for the record, Nov. 4, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p><strong>Allied health joins ACL clinical trials network<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liz Wellsandt, PhD, and Yvonne Golightly, PhD, will be co-principal investigators of a new clinical trial unit for the Arthritis Foundation&#8217;s Osteoarthritis Clinical Trial Network. The network model was created to conduct clinical trials for patients with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury who are at risk for knee osteoarthritis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNMC College of Allied Health Professions was one of nine sites across the United States selected for the competitive award. Funding will begin in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Team members include: Mike Rosenthal, DSc, Laura Bilek, PhD, Matt Tao, MD, and Justin Greiner, MD, (orthopaedics); Balasrinivasa Sajja, PhD, (radiology); R.J. Barber, Matt McManigal, Kara Smith and Cherie Kimble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;ACL injury can contribute to the rapid development of knee osteoarthritis. Effective treatments are needed to prevent or slow this progression to osteoarthritis. New and innovative interventions will be tested at UNMC as part of the Arthritis Foundation\u2019s Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials Network so this disabling and painful joint disease can be prevented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr. Boyers&nbsp;represents&nbsp;iEXCEL at&nbsp;hall of fame ceremony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, UNMC\u2019s Pamela Boyers, PhD, associate vice chancellor for clinical simulation, presented Winston \u201cWink\u201d Bennett, PhD,\u00a0as he was inducted into the\u00a0National Center for Simulation Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Boyers was inducted into that national&nbsp;hall of fame two years ago. Dr. Boyers\u2019 speech highlighted UNMC and iEXCEL\u2019s continued involvement and leadership in the realm of simulation advancement, adoption and innovation across health care, military and industry&nbsp;forums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maintenance scheduled on PeopleSoft System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NeSIS &#8211; PeopleSoft System, including MyRecords, will have scheduled down time for nine hours on Sunday, Nov. 6, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST. Other affected systems include Mavlink, MyBlue, MyCSC, MyNCTA, MyPSC, MyRED and WildcatsOnline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The systems will be unavailable during the maintenance times. With questions, call 402-472-3970 or email the support team. <a href=\"mailto:support@nebraska.edu\">support@nebraska.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A change in phone conferencing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of this week, bridge line conference vendor, Lumen\/CenturyLink, will no longer offer those phone conferencing services. The phone numbers that UNMC currently uses for companywide conference calls (i.e. 1-877-820-7831) will no longer work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a replacement, med center colleagues are advised to set up Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings for conferencing. Smart phone apps for both of those options are available on the app store.
