{"id":93503,"date":"2022-11-15T15:32:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T21:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=93503"},"modified":"2022-11-16T08:58:44","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T14:58:44","slug":"blanket-making-project-will-help-foster-care-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/11\/15\/blanket-making-project-will-help-foster-care-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Blanket making project will help foster-care community"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Fostering the Future invites the UNMC community to participate in its annual blanket making project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty, staff and students can help make tie blankets for youth in foster care at an in-person event or pick up materials to make them at home with family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The in-person blanket making event will be Friday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Center for Nursing Science third floor atrium. Food and drinks will be provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the take-home option, blanket kits can be picked up in the Sorrell Center, third floor, near the north entry doors by the lockers (College of Medicine Wellness Space, Room 3021A) starting Thursday, Nov. 17. Pick-up and drop-off will run from Nov. 17 to Dec. 2 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. All materials must be returned by Friday, Dec. 2.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Donations will go to Project Everlast, Project Harmony, Partnership 4 Kids and the Omaha Police Department. The project has been funded by the UNMC Student Senate BOSS proposal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.signupgenius.com\/go\/20f0e4daca929aafc1-fostering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Sign up here to participate in the blanket making project (both the in-person event or the take home option).<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fostering the Future is a student-led, interprofessional service-learning initiative dedicated to promoting resources and solutions to address the health challenges at-risk youth face in the Omaha metropolitan area.
