{"id":93662,"date":"2022-11-22T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=93662"},"modified":"2022-11-21T14:10:27","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T20:10:27","slug":"unmc-ice-rink-to-open-saturday-dec-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/11\/22\/unmc-ice-rink-to-open-saturday-dec-3\/","title":{"rendered":"UNMC ice rink to open Saturday, Dec. 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>UNMC\u2019s outdoor ice skating rink will be open this season from Dec. 3 through Feb. 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rink, which is open to the public, is located just east of 42nd Street, midway between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue, on the north side of the Sorrell Center for Health Science Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission for the public is $7, which includes skates. Cash or credit cards only are accepted \u2014 no checks or debit cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission is free for these members of the med center and university community:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>UNMC, University of Nebraska at Omaha, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Kearney, Clarkson College, Nebraska Medicine employees, students and immediate family members. Must present a valid university or Nebraska Medicine ID badge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ronald McDonald House employees and house guests. Must present a valid ID badge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hours of operation are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monday: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tuesday through Thursday: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (campus intramurals in the evenings)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sunday: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Intramural broomball and curling leagues will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During winter break \u2014 Dec. 19 through Jan. 1 \u2014 open skating hours will be extended to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sunday through Thursday: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Holiday hours are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Christmas Eve: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Christmas Day: Closed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Year\u2019s Eve: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Year\u2019s Day: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the air temperature (not the wind chill reading) is zero degrees or below, the rink will be closed. Check weather closures by going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/theiceattheunmc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook<\/a> or by calling 402-559-0697.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Free parking is available in Lot 15 (surface lot on 40th Street between Dewey Avenue and Emile Street), located on the north and east sides of the UNMC Center for Healthy Living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the ice rink and adjacent event building for handling admission and skate rentals are outdoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Skaters may bring food and beverages. Alcohol is not allowed.
