{"id":93764,"date":"2022-11-23T01:06:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-23T07:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=93764"},"modified":"2022-11-22T16:01:07","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T22:01:07","slug":"employee-giving-drive-highlights-united-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/11\/23\/employee-giving-drive-highlights-united-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Employee giving drive highlights United Way"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>The UNMC Employee Giving Committee will draw prize winners for the second week of the campaign Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week&#8217;s prizes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One $25 Visa gift card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One $50 Visa gift card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UNMC swag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees of UNMC who pledge&nbsp;a minimum of $10 total&nbsp;will be eligible for the prizes listed above. You can log into&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/net.unmc.edu\/eserv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eServ<\/a>&nbsp;and make a pledge before 3 p.m. Wednesday to be included in the drawing. Once employees pledge, they are entered in all weekly drawings. Winners will be notified via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The running totals<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of Tuesday, UNMC achieved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Donations of $85,950<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee participation of 9%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To participate, see these instructions for more details on donating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>United Way of the Midlands:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/net.unmc.edu\/eserv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>. According to the American Community Survey, one in three families in the metro are struggling to make ends meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is in addition to the social injustices people face every day in communities across the metro. These injustices continue to have profound impacts on people&#8217;s lives. Without access to equal opportunities, it can be difficult for people to meet their basic needs or grow and thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United Way of the Midlands recognizes it&#8217;s hard for just one person, one company or one nonprofit alone to tackle the challenges people are facing. That&#8217;s why they tackle these challenges in a specific way \u2013 a &#8220;united&#8221; way. They aim to maintain their longstanding commitment to addressing social injustice by serving the underserved, as they have for the past 100 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donations to the United Way are invested in basic needs, education and financial stability programs at local nonprofits. Together, these programs form a circle of support for neighbors so they can tackle multiple challenges at once and regain stability during difficult times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
