members&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robin Lally, PhD, professor in the UNMC College of Nursing, and Chuck Baum, vice&nbsp;chairman of the Cattlemen\u2019s Ball Board of Directors, will&nbsp;join the Fred &amp; Pamela Buffett Cancer Center director search committee.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Lally will replace Michele Balas, PhD,&nbsp;associate dean research, Dorothy Hodges Olson Chair, UNMC College of Nursing, who is stepping down from her committee role.&nbsp;Baum will replace Jeff Marshall, chairman of the Cattlemen\u2019s Ball Board of Directors, who also is stepping down from his committee role.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The search&nbsp;is co-chaired by&nbsp;Ann Anderson Berry, MD, PhD, executive director of the Child Health Research Institute and professor and chief of neonatology for the UNMC College of Medicine, and Chris Kratochvil, MD, associate vice chancellor of clinical research at UNMC and vice president of clinical research for Nebraska Medicine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anna Schwartz, PhD, featured in Medical News Today<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anna Schwartz, PhD, was featured in a Medical News Today article titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/cancer-and-bone-health-chemotherapy-and-smoking-may-up-fracture-risk?utm_source=ReadNext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018Cancer and bone health: Chemotherapy and smoking may up fracture risk<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s always an honor to be recognized as an expert in the field,\u201d said Dr. Schwartz, professor in the UNMC College of Nursing-Omaha Division and Charlotte Peck Lienemann &amp; Alumni Distinguished Chair in Nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medical News Today, one of the fastest growing health information sites in the country, offers in-depth health information and the latest news in medical research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Nov. 7 article, Dr. Schwartz was asked to comment on a new study that found an increased chance of bone fractures for older cancer patients, especially in the first five years after an advanced diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Schwartz specializes in research on the beneficial effects of exercise for cancer survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the article she wrote: \u201cThe finding that older adult cancer survivors are at increased risk of fracture for a prolonged time after treatment ends speaks to the critical need for exercise oncology rehabilitation to restore balance and strength to reduce the risk of falls.\u201d<\/p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\"
