Wigton Department of Special Collections and Archives\u201d within the McGoogan Health Sciences Library recognizes Dr. Wigton\u2019s extraordinary service and generous financial support to UNMC.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 1969 UNMC College of Medicine graduate, Dr. Wigton went on to serve the UNMC College of Medicine as associate dean for graduate education and chief of the general internal medicine section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served, for years, as the \u201cunofficial historian\u201d for the campus and provided major funding for the Wigton Heritage Center, which opened in 2021
