Mike Jacobson tours UNMC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Nebraska State Sen. Mike Jacobson, who represents District 42, toured UNMC in December, meeting with Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and other university leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Jacobson\u2019s visit included a discussion with Marley Doyle, MD, and her team at the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska about statewide behavioral health efforts, as well as a tour of the iEXCEL program, where he received a demonstration of some of UNMC\u2019s state-of-the-art education technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sen. Jacobson said he was \u201ctruly impressed\u201d with what he saw and learned during his visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis goes well beyond anything I imagined I would see today,\u201d he said. \u201cAs a rural state senator, I often get asked about the rural-urban divide, and what impresses me the most about UNMC is all the work you\u2019re doing here. You\u2019re training clinicians to go across the state, you have facilities across the state \u2014 you truly have a statewide reach, which we don\u2019t often see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very easy for someone like me, in west-central Nebraska, to really embrace and support what\u2019s going on here at UNMC.
