Walking through the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, you\u2019re sure to revel in the colored garden of glass, find hope in a multi-language tapestry and feel joy from a grouping of metal flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the past five years, the Healing Arts Program<\/a> at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine has helped transform the health care experience for patients and providers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the program is showcasing its art collection online, launching a mobile-friendly website to highlight the art found within the building and feature the artists whose talents inspire those who walk through the doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe often hear \u2013 from patients, providers and the public \u2013 how the artwork creates a calm, compassionate and supportive environment, and we\u2019re pleased, now, to be able to share the program with the broader community online,\u201d said Amy Jenson, executive director of the Healing Arts Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The website includes artwork from the Healing Arts\u2019 permanent collection, as well as special exhibitions, artist bios, location of the artwork and upcoming events and tour information, to include the musical performances on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next summer, staff plan to add QR codes on art labels to help the curious learn more about works of art. Over time, Jenson said, all the Healing Arts pieces \u2013 spread across the med center campus \u2013 will be featured on the website, including artwork in non-public areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhether on campus or online, we hope more Nebraskans will have the opportunity to connect with the power of art,\u201d Jenson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
